Sumas Specializes in the treatment of soil containing heavy metals ,
completing some of the largest and most complex projects in western
Canada. Our success with chemical fixation/stabilization (CFS) technologies
stems from our ability to evaluate treatment mix designs at the bench
scale level in our own laboratories utilizing various mix proportions
and reagent applications. More importantly, our comprehensive understanding
of the chemical reactions that occur with the addition of certain
reagents and the solubility characteristics of each metal compound
in a pH-controlled environment enables us to design a treatment system
that maximizes metal containment and reduced mobility of the target
compounds.  During
bench scale evaluations, Sumas also incorporates soil pre-treatment
to facilitate the treatment process by producing a homogeneous, intermediate
product. This pre-treatment process promotes increased mixing and
contact time of reagent-to-water-to-soil and reduces the potential
for re-treatment. The stabilization / solidification of the contaminated
soil will allow the disposal of the solid matrix in class II landfills,
greatly reducing the cost of final remediation. |
